Although Gov. Jay Nixon (D) favors expanding Medicaid, the General Assembly did not include funding for an expansion in the state’s 2013 budget. Lawmakers in the state
still are discussing whether to participate in the expansion. Missouri’s House Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation on Oct. 28, 2013, held a hearing to discuss Medicaid expansion, and discussed a model similar to the expansion model in Arkansas. However, legislation to expand the program
in the state will not be considered until the 2014 session.
