The Iowa Legislature on May 23, 2013, passed the Iowa Health
and Wellness Plan, a compromise between state Republicans and Democrats that
would enroll residents at or below 100% of the federal poverty limit in
Medicaid and provide insurance subsidies for residents between 101% and 138% of
the FPL. On June 20, 2013, Gov. Terry Branstad (R) signed the proposal into law. The federal government must approve the plan.
